README.TXT file for the 64700 Emul/Anly Firmware
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The firmware and the program that downloads it into the HP 64700
are included on the disks labeled "HP64700 Emul/Anly Firmware". You
only need to load this software if you need to update the firmware
for your emulator, analyzer, lan software, or emulator generic
firmware.

The firmware revisions of all of the products on this disk are listed
at the end of this README file. The Real-Time C Debugger requires a
Version of A.04.00 or higher of the HP64700 generic emulation firmware.
Even though earlier versions of the other subsystems may work, it is
a good idea to use the most recent firmware version available for each
subsystem.

You can check your firmware revisions in the Real-Time C Debugger product
using the Help->About Debugger/Emulator command. If any of the firmware
is out of date, you should install this utility and update your firmware.

Your HP 64700 must contain Flash EPROM memory before you can update
HP 64700 system firmware. If it does not, you must contact your
HP field representative in order to update your ROMS.

Instructions for updating the firmware can be found in the Real-Time
C manual chapter "Installing/Updating HP 64700 Firmware".

Installation
------------
1. To install the 64700 Firmware Update Utility, start MS Windows.
Insert the "HP64700 Emul/Anly Firmware 1 of 2" disk into
the floppy disk drive a or b.

Choose the File->Run command in the Windows Program Manager.
Enter "a:setup" or "b:setup" in the Command Line text box.

You will be asked to enter a path for the utility, or use the
default HP64700 path. All of the firmware files will be copied
    to your hard disk.

2. After the Setup Program has completed, if you installed the files
in a location other than the default HP64700, you must set the
HP64700 and HPTABLES environment variables. These variables are
used by PROGFLASH.EXE to find the required files. You will probably
want to place commands to set these variables into your 'autoexec.bat'
file for execution on boot up.

    - Set the environment variable HP64700 to the directory where you
      installed the utility.
      For example: set HP64700=C:\HP64700

    - The environment variable HPTABLES must be assigned the path name
of the TABLES directory, this path will always be the TABLES
      subdirectory of your path.
      For example: set HPTABLES=C:\HP64700\TABLES

    - The FLASH.BAT file in the BIN directory must be modified to use
the path where you installed the utility.

3. Modify your 'config.sys' file to contain the following lines:

    BREAK=ON
    FILES=20

4. If you do not already have an emulator device table file (64700TAB)
that you have set up and want to keep, edit the default device table
C:\HP64700\TABLES\64700TAB to reflect your hardware configuration.
The default table contains entries for COM1 and COM2 at 9600 Baud.

5. Select the "PROGFLASH" icon in the HP64700 Firmware Update Utility
Program Manager Group to run the utility.

NOTE:
The interrupt setting for the communication port being used must be
set to the default setting for PROGFLASH to work. The default settings
    are:
           COM1, COM3: int 4
           COM2, COM4: int 3
